Hannah B: Furry Friends Forever!
Furry Friends Forever!
by Hannah Beran
Why hello there!
If you love an
adventure, come along with me! I have lots of friends and you will too, once
you come visit the Humane Society! I go there once a week and you won't belive
how many sweet, loving animals they have there. When people do come to adopt,
they mainly look at the kittens and the puppies. Yes, I know that they are cute
and stuff, but nobody really looks at the older dogs or cats. But when you go
there, you will see that the older dogs and cats are just as cute and loving,
as the kittens and puppies are.
Let me tell you how many
animals got adopted in 2015: 1,088 kitty cats, 1,107 dogs, and 97 small animals
such as bunnies, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, etc. And 244 animals got
back to their families and back to their homes. As well as, 242 animals were
sent to rescue all over the United States. Wow, that's a lot! Additionally, 34
feral cats were released. Percentage-wise, that would be a 92% live
release rate. I got all of this information from their website, cmhspets.org.
I donate my time to the
Humane Society and read there every Tuesday. They have a program where you can
read to the animals and socialize with them. You can volunteer as well to do
things like walk the dogs, change the cats' litter boxes, clean the cages, and
stuff like that. But when I read to them, they seem to understand it and
some...not so much. They would rather play instead of read. But at the end, you
never want to leave, because they found a special place in your heart.
I'm sure you would love
to go there, right? Well, if you're still not sure, just go there and take a
look for yourself!
That sounds like a lot of fun
